"Shape of You" is one of the lead singles from Ed Sheeran's album "÷". The song was written by Ed Sheeran together with Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid.

According to Ed, this song had originally been written for Rihanna and was not intended to be included on the album "÷", but the head of the record label convinced him to keep the song for himself.

The original lyrics did not end with "...the shape of you" in the chorus, but Johnny McDaid thought that the words "I'm in love with your body" sounded objectifying, and the chorus was modified.

"Shape of You" became the number one song of the year on Billboard Hot 100 in 2017, and the second best-selling song in the US after "Despacito".
