Discord blocking Nexus Mods links? What we found so far

Over the past couple of days we have seen reports circulating that Discord is banning users for sharing Nexus Mods links. These claims popped up in a few places, including on Discord itself and on Reddit, and understandably raised some concerns.

At the start of this, we did not know whether the claims were true. With misinformation spreading quickly, we wanted to take a step back and actually verify what was going on rather than speculate.

What we investigated
We began by testing this ourselves. Members of the Community team and several trusted community volunteers posted Nexus Mods links in different formats and in different Discord servers. We were not able to reproduce the issue.

We also spoke with other users who were active in the discussions and asked them to test on their end. Again, we could not find anyone who could reliably confirm that Discord was moderating accounts specifically for posting Nexus Mods links.

In parallel, we reached out to Discord to ask whether there was any legitimacy to these claims. We may not receive a concrete answer from them, but we felt it was important to raise the question directly. We will be updating this post if/when we receive a response from Discord. 

The one example that initially sparked the concern appears to be an isolated moderation notice where a Nexus Mods link happened to be present. Based on everything we have seen so far, it may simply be a coincidence rather than evidence of Nexus Mods being targeted. 

Conclusion
After investigating, testing extensively, and asking others to do the same, we can find no verifiable proof that Discord is blocking Nexus Mods links or banning users for sharing them. We cannot reproduce the issue and have no confirmed cases beyond the original claim. At this point, we believe the report is either misinformation, lacking important context, or simply incorrect.
